The Mills Family Cattle Herd is a combination of Wynyard Shorthorns and Mills Poll Herefords. We strive to breed cattle that thrive in a range of environments and have a 'Quality over Quantity' mindset.

We, the Mills Family, started breeding Shorthorns back in 1980. Why? for 3 key factors; fertility, eating quality and doing ability under all conditions.

We diversified into Poll Hereford Genetics in 2011. The reason being that Poll Herefords have a great ability to fatten on grass and are commercially accepted in the red meat industry.

We concentrate on breeding cattle with high marbling to improve meat quality & above average fats on EBVs which, to us, indicate doing ability.

 

Our overall goal is to breed cattle that will thrive under any circumstances and sell well at any weight.
